For this painting Niall used Phthalocyanine green (often called phthalo green)-a synthetic, high-intensity blue-green pigment created by chlorinating copper phthalocyanine. This is similar in structure to his regularly used phthalo blue, both containing a copper phthalocyanine base, altered via chlorination to absorb more blue light, creating a more intense, velvety green.
